So easy a caveman can do it...but you might find it more difficult
Devilishly Good write:
Neanderball is a sokoban style puzzler where your goal is to navigate obstacles and crush nests of dinosaur eggs. You have only your wits and your trusty club to help you out. Movement is accomplished using a 4 way dpad and there is a single button for club smashing. You must push the round boulders onto the nests to crush them...your club will not suffice. Use your club to smash inflatable mushrooms that act as barriers. Some smashes will lower some mushrooms while raising others presenting you with various levels of obstacles to navigate. As the levels go up in difficulty, the number of nests to smash and mushroom obstacles go up in number and complexity and can prove quite challenging to navigate.
You can earn gold, silver, or bronze stars depending on how quickly you solve each level. I found it really difficult to be quick enough to get a gold star as the timer moves pretty quickly. Luckily the "retry level" option is readily available so you can try again to improve your performance.
My only issues with the game were the sensitivity of the controls - they take only a brief tap to make you move and if you aren't careful you can inadvertantly move in a direction or push the boulder in a direction you did not intend to go. So they take a little bit of getting used to. The other issue is that for me it was sometimes difficult to tell I had pushed a boulder to a boundary of the puzzle and because you cannot walk around it to the other side, you cannot then push the boulder back in the right direction. Your only option at this point is to reset the puzzle and try again and this caused me some frustration...luckily, it is easy to reset and try again.
Overall, I found this to be a cute sokoban-style puzzler, with fun caveman graphics, challenging puzzles, and enjoyable background music and sound effects.
A simple & addictive puzzle game!
Nothing complicated here, this one's super-easy to pick up and get into. This is the kind of game that was tailor-made for playing on the go... it's great to fire it up and try to get the highest ranking on a few levels while sitting on the bus or whatever.
Very polished, nice graphics and sounds, and lots of levels. If you're into these kinds of "push 'em up" games, there's no reason not to grab this one!
A unique and interesting puzzler
The game is easy to pick up and play at first, but it becomes more challenging as you progress further through the levels. The controls are rather difficult to use at first, but you quickly get used to them after a level or two. The control pad allows you to move around the level and push the boulders on top of the nests, and the button allows you to smash your club into the ground, pushing down buttons and presumably performing other tasks. The presentation is nice, and I haven't turned on the sound, so I'm unable to comment on it. Overall, a nice and charming puzzler well worth 99 cents :)
